How to Draw an Anime
- Face shape.
Start by drawing the bottom of the character’s face. First, draw the chin and cheek, and after that draw the ear as in the example.
- Draw the hair.
Draw the tousled hair of the character in the same way as shown in the example.
- Draw the torso.
Under the character’s head, form the anime boy’s torso using three curved lines.
- Add pants.
Draw a couple of oblique lines and tie them from below with a line to make one of the legs. Now it’s time to draw the adjacent leg in the pants, bent at the knee. Notice how the curved line extends down from the torso and forms a noticeable curve.
- Draw the sleeves.
Hands in sleeves are not as difficult to draw as it might seem at first glance. One of the arms is slightly bent at the elbow. Draw it like this: draw a pair of curved lines and connect them with a slash. Another detail is a pair of curved lines directed in the opposite direction and connected to each other. Don’t forget about the neck of the sweater—depict it with a rounded line.
- Add hands and shoes.
Now draw the hands and shoes of the anime character in chibi style.
- Add details.
Now you need to form the face parts of the anime character. Draw round eye shapes as well as an open mouth. After that, add a star symbol to the character’s T-shirt, as in the example.
- Detail the face.
Now you need to detail the anime boy’s face by adding pupils, teeth, tongue, and ear lines.
- Anime eyes outline.
To complete the drawing of the anime character, you need to detail the boy’s anime eyes in the same way as shown in the example. Add eyelashes, eyebrows and a light reflection in the eyes following the example from the step.
- Color the artwork.
Color your Anime drawing using crayons or other coloring supplies. To colorize, you need to use the example from the step, or use other colors.
To practice, you need to draw more often and immerse yourself in the process with interest. Try also to draw separately anime eyes, because this is the most important element for characters in this style.
