Good day to all! In this drawing tutorial, you will learn how to draw the Grinch for kids. This fluffy green hermit is the protagonist of How the Grinch Stole Christmas by writer Dr. Seuss and the cartoon of the same name, The Grinch. The Grinch lives in solitude in a cave at the top of a mountain and has a bad temper. He is so annoyed by the pre-holiday bustle and general fun that he decides to spoil the city dwellers’ celebration—to steal their Christmas gifts and decorations.
The Grinch’s heart grows kinder and softer when he sees that even the lack of gifts cannot prevent people from enjoying Christmas. This character has become famous and loved all over the world. The Grinch image is used in the manufacture of toys, Christmas accessories, and wardrobe items. Drawing a Grinch is a fun process that will create a good mood and help develop the skills of drawing rounded shapes, symmetrical details, and various curved lines.

How to Draw the Grinch for Kids
- Draw the head.
The Grinch’s head is pear-shaped. Notice that there are hairs growing on the character’s cheekbones—three on the left, two on the right. Be sure to follow the example instructions in the drawing process.
- Draw the hair.
Next, you need to draw a zigzag line with three vertices on the character’s head.
- Add eyes and eyebrows.
Mark the Grinch’s eyes with small, equal ovals. Add black pupils inside the eyes! Draw an obtuse angle above the ovals—it represents the eyebrows.
- Draw the mouth.
The nose is a small-inverted triangle with rounded corners located under the eyes. From it, draw a straight line down, and under it, an arc that will indicate a smile. Note the dimples on the cheeks.
- Draw the collar.
Draw a wavy line under the character’s head with four rises of different levels—you will get a woolen collar.
- Draw the body.
Draw an unfinished oval starting at the collar.
- Draw the arms.
Next, you need to draw the hands of the Grinch. Draw arms on both sides in the form of curved lines that are pressed to the body.
- Draw the legs.
The character’s legs are like an inverted glass. Draw its long “leg” and the bowl itself, and in the middle of this shape draw a vertical straight line that delimits the left and right limbs of the Grinch. See example instructions.
- Color your drawing.
We used a distinctive green color for the body. The wool collar is dark green and the Grinch’s nose is dark purple.
