How to draw a hippo? Both a beginner and an experienced amateur will cope with this task. In the process, you can practice drawing rounded shapes, various geometric shapes, curved lines.
Time needed: 30 minutes.
How to Draw a Hippo for Kids
- Draw the muzzle.
The muzzle of a hippopotamus is a horizontally located oval.
- Draw the head and ears.
Draw a steep arc (semi-oval) above the hippo’s face. This is the head of an animal. Now you need to draw the ears with which the mammal drives away annoying insects and birds. Draw on the head two small symmetrical ovals touching each other.
- Add eyes and eyebrows.
Small identical circles from the eyes of a hippopotamus. Place a dot in each eye and get pupils. Draw two short lines above the eyes.
- Add nostrils and teeth.
Draw two small equal circles at a distance from each other – the hippopotamus will have wide nostrils. There will be teeth under the muzzle. Label them with the same small rectangles. Note: like the nostrils, they should be spaced apart.
- Draw the body.
Draw a large oval. Start drawing a line for the torso from the bottom of the animal’s muzzle and end it on the right side there as well.
- Draw the belly.
On the body, draw an oval spot of the belly, but do not end it at the bottom, as part of the belly of the hippo is not visible.
- Draw the front legs.
Now we need to add the front limbs of the animal. Place two symmetrical quads on the sides of your body. At the end of each of them, draw three arcs – these are the hippo’s fingers.
- Draw the hind legs.
The legs of a hippopotamus look like an inverted trapezoid. In the middle, such a “trapezoid” is divided by a straight line into two equal parts. Draw three toes at the ends of the legs, larger than the forelimbs.
- Color your drawing.
